of the people of Myanmar, Stamford College donated RM5,000 to the
Myanmar Disaster Fund on 16 May 2008. The donation was channeled
through the Sin Chew Daily.

Sichuan, a province in China was
almost wiped out after a horrific earthquake that shook the people
of the country. The earthquake not only claimed thousands of lives
but also left many others homeless. Again, Stamford immediately
organised a campaign 'Stand By Me a Fund in Aid of
Earthquake Victims in China' for the victims.
The campaign was
officially launched on 21 May 2008 with songs and performances at
the foyer of SCPJ 223. Students from China and Malaysia came up
with some wonderful performances. Dato Haji Abdul Halim and Dato
W.M.Chan each donated RM5,000 in cash to the fund followed by
generous donations by students and staff. After the launch,
members of the SCPJ Student Council set up a booth for
contributions for the next three days until 23 May
2008.
" I have friends in Sichuan and
its a very sad situation, Im glad Stamford College is doing
their part" said Bai Xin from China.
The Fund that amounted to
RM23,068.00 was handed over by Mr Andrew Choo to the Embassy of
China in Malaysia. Datuk Michael Chong, Head of MCA Public
Services and Complaints Bureau was present at the

Students pit in - Car wash for
Sichuan quake victims
A car wash for raising funds in aid of the
Sichuan quake victims was also organised by the Student Council of
SCPJ 223. A total of 15 cars were washed and the
collection of RM150 was added to the main fund.
"Its not as easy as it looks, its hard
labour but it's fun. We enjoyed all the splashing of water on the
cars and occasionally at each other. In any case it was for a good
cause," said Gan Jiunn Wei, a Student Council member.
