Intensive English Students Visit Handicapped and
Mentally-Disabled Children Centre

A Melaka student feeding the disabled
kids
A group of Intensive English students from
Stamford College Melaka visited The Handicapped and
Mentally-Disabled Children Centre on Wednesday 2 April 2008. The
aim of this visit was to make students aware of the handicapped
and mentally-disabled community in Malacca. Prior to the visit,
the students had collected cash donations to be channeled to this
centre.
A total of RM 715 was collected for this charity
programme," said Miss Suzana Mohamad, the team leader of this
charity project.
The Handicapped and Mentally-Disabled Children
Centre houses 52 children and it is run by Mr R. Farimanalan.
The matron of the centre, Madame Amy Ng, shared her bitter-sweet
experience of taking care of the children with the students. She
is a mother figure to all children and she exudes a lot of love
and tenderness in taking care of them. According to Madame Ng, "
the kind and generous contributions by many kind samaritans have
enabled the centre to stay afloat ever since this centre was
established. However, the centre is in dire need of
voluntary workers to take care of the children."
