Ushering in  the New Year at Stamford!!
 
Having a great time!

As 2007 came to end, the staff of Stamford College PJ gathered at the first floor for a party to bid 2007 farewell on the evening of 31 December. Stamford's Chief Operating Officer, Mr. Andrew Choo and other senior management staff attended the party.

The atmosphere at the party was filled with revelry and fun . The games organised brought laughter and joy. It also promoted togetherness among the staff. Delicious and sumptuous food was served, not forgetting the mouth-watering new year chocolate fudge cake! Kudos to the organisers and Happy New Year 2008 to all!

Dato Hj Abdul Halim, Executive Chairman of Stamford, in his New Year message to all staff wished them all the best and said, "2007 has been a challenging yet a rewarding year for us at Stamford. We welcome 2008 with eager anticipation of the many challenges that awaits us but we are  prepared to meet these challenges collectively for the betterment of Stamford and its noble causes. May the year of the Rat bring good health, luck and prosperity to one and all. "


A - Levels orientation.

The new students of the A-Levels January intake attended an orientation on 2 January 2008, their first week at Stamford. The introductory speech by Mr. Joshua at the orientation put the students at ease and they felt very much at home. The senior students for previous 'A' Level�s intake joined together in the orientation to welcome their junior coursemates. Games were organised to break the ice between the new students, senior students and staff.

"I am very happy that I decided to do my 'A' Levels at Stamford. I can see that Stamford has got a lot to offer and I will take this opportunity to excel," said Shakila, a new student.

Nigerian officials visit Stamford College

Three personnel from the Nigerian Embassy visited Stamford on 2 January 2008 to discuss collaboration possibilities between Stamford College and Nigeria. They met up with Mr. Andrew Choo and Mr Tamilchelvam. The bilateral talks would look towards bringing more Nigerian students to Stamford College.


MBA and BBM preview - 16 January 2008

Despite the peak hour traffic on Wednesday 16 December 2008, a good number of potential candidates turned out at the MBA/BBM Preview organised by Stamfordonline.  The talk started with Adjunct Professo of UBI Albert Lim taking explaining the programme well and encouraged the audience to participate as well. It was a rather interactive session. Dr. Albert stressed on how UBI while not being recognised by LAN, it is affiliated to many reputed universities worldwide. The preview ended at about 9.30pm. Stamfordonline is planning on venturing into new markets in the future.

Arrival of Chinese students from Tianjin

A group of 16 students together with eight parents and two teachers from Tianjin, China arrived at Stamford College on the morning of 7 January 2008. Mr. Andrew Choo and Ms. Lee Siew Ngor, the Deputy Director, International Services welcomed them. The students were then brought to the auditorium where Mr.Andrew Choo gave a welcome speech. A video presentation on Stamford was later aired to assist the students to understand the college better.

The students were then taken on a campus visit. They were awed with the facilities provided. "I think the library is equipped with many useful and updated books and reference materials", said Cathy, a Chinese student who previously studied in Australia.


   School of Computer Sciences

 The UeL B.Sc. (Hons) Computer Networks January intake will commence on 21 January 2008 (Monday) and students can register from 14 January 2008 (Monday) onwards.

The  Diploma in Information Technology (DIT) January intake will commence on 28 Jan 2008 (Monday) and students can register from 21 January 2008 (Monday) onwards.


 
School of Education and Law
 
The Stamford College Law Society recently successfully carried out a fund-raising drive which netted RM1,532.00, comprising RM1,400.00 from the sale of cookies and RM132.00 through washing staff and student cars. The School of Education and Law would like to congratulate the Law Society Council members, ordinary members, and all others who contributed their time, energy and resource in this project.

Intakes for the UoL LLB programme are as follows:
 
Full-time: 11 February, 7 April, and 7 July 2008
 
Part-time: 11 February and 8 September 2008.
 

Next Certificate in Teaching Course
 
The next Certificate in Teaching Course (CITC) will be conducted at Stamford College Jalan Barat on Saturdays 8, 15, 22, and 29 March 2008 from 9am to 1pm and from 2pm to 6pm.
 

School of Business and Marketing
 
UEL International Business and Marketing students bid farewell

The final year students of the UEL International Business and Marketing programmes ended their term at Stamford this week. After three years of hard work and determination they were relieved to have completed  the programme successfully. The exams for the final year students were scheduled in the first week of January.  These students has been rather active in the activities organised in Stamford. They were always spotted at sports events, the sports carnivals, Student Council activities and  even helped out as talents for Stamford�s advertisements. Some of them were also core members of the previous year's Student Council.

As they bid farewell to their alma mater, they take valuable lessons learnt from Stamford in their memories.

Stamford College KL
New Student Council

An election was conducted in November 2007 to select new office bearers for the Student Council of Stamford College KL. The new committee is shown in the picture below:

The new committee led by Susahnah is planning to actively organise educational visits, student activities and raise funds for their activities.
