The Stamford Administrative Professionals' Seminar for 2007
was held on Saturday 28 April at the Equatorial Hotel, Jalan
Parameswara, Malacca.Over 300 students and staff from the centres
of KL,PJ and Malacca attended this annual event

The Guest of Honour was Dato Hj Abdul Halim but he was unable
to attend the function because of urgent commitments. His speech
was read by Mr Narayanamy, the Head of Stamford Malacca.

In his speech, Dato Halim thanked the organisers for inviting
him to the event.He mentioned that he always looked forward to
this event as it was one of the highlights of the School of
Secretarial and Administrative Studies.
" Secretaries and Administrators today are no longer just
assistants to managers today. In fact they play a leading part in
the management processes of the organisation. You are an integral
part of the management and you contribute significantly to the
development and progress of the company and society at large," he
said.
The welcoming speech was given by the Principal of Stamford
College Malacca, Mr. K. Narayanasamy. He expressed his
appreciation to all staff and students from various centres that
gave full support to ensure the success of the seminar.
The keynote address was given by Mr. U.K. Menon, the Academic
Director of Stamford College who espoused the theme of the
seminar, 'Delivering Your Trust Since
1950. '
Guest and Professional speakers provided the topics for the
seminar.
The first speaker was Puan Sri T.D. Ampikaipakan,
who emphasised the importance of self-assurance and projection of
the right image for a successful
career. Ms. Jesslyn
Kam, a former graduate and a corporate executive gave a
presentation on her own experiences in moving up the career
ladder. The final speaker, Mr.
Y.C Yap, a Toastmaster touched on the various skills needed to excel in the workplace.
Apart from
these talks, performances from students of all centres,
and lucky draws that had many
prizes enlivened the function.
Students from China (
Tianjin)
Over 30 students from Tianjin have arrived at Stamford
College for a number of academic programmes. The arrival of these
students on 25 April is the result of ongoing international
marketing efforts and collaboration with Chinese educational
institutions.
At the orientation
The students are currently undergoing the North American
Degree programme, the UEL business programme and English courses.
On arrival they were provided with an orientation programme
specifically tailored for them.

Engineering
Stamford College SOE's
" Innovates 2007."
Engineering is the application
of scientific and mathematical principles to practical ends such
as the design, manufacture, and operation of efficient and
economical structures, machines, processes, and systems.
Understanding these concepts is the main purpose of the Stamford
College School of Engineering�s Final Year Project Demonstration
"Innovate 2007" held on 3 and 4 of May 2007.

The demonstration featured more than 30
engineering innovations and projects in Control, Power, Robotics
and Communication from Stamford College�s engineering students.
Thirty-two students vied to win lecturers and supervisors
over with their innovative inventions. Students are required to be
innovative and inventive as this demonstration is their final year
project before graduation.
The Fashion Show 2007 was an event organised by the School
of Computer Science, Stamford College Melaka on 12 April 2007. The
objective of this event was to bring out the latent talents of the
college students in the fashion arena. The event was a success and
Nini Wong from StarBlizz was the chief guest of the evening. The
students strutted their talents on the stage during the fashion
show. Ng Chun Fai was crowned the Prince of Stamford College
Melaka and Diah Pitaloka was crowned the Princess of Stamford
College Melaka. They were paired as the Best Couple of the
evening. The event received favourable response from the students
and many hoped that this event would be done annually.
English Class
Activities (SCM)
The English students at
Stamford College Malacca organised interactive talk sessions at
the college. On 6 March Ms Lynn Holland, a former pilot in
New Zealand, shared valuable work experience on what it means "to
be professional". Being hardworking, committed, passionate about
one�s work were words that she ascribed to being
professional.
On April 10, Ms Jackie
Siddle, a British teacher in Malacca, spoke on the topic "Decision
Making". She began by saying you�re constantly making decisions
from the time you wake up, such as whether to go to college, what
to wear, and how to spend the day. Making a bad decision, however,
such as to ride a motor-bike without your helmet might cost you
your life. She added that making the wrong decision in
your career might result in you becoming frustrated in life..

Tourism seminar
The centre�s academic staff and students of the
School of Hospitality and Tourism were invited to the "One Day Act
Tourism Programme Seminar" conducted at the Tang Dynasty Hotel in
Downtown Kota Kinabalu. The programme was participated by 20
students from the school and 2 academic lecturers.
The seminar was also attended by students from other local
colleges with Hospitality and Tourism programmes.
