OBJECTIVES
The objectives of the course are to enable students to
1. To explain the basic concepts of issues management.
2. To describe the tools used in the scanning process and evaluating issues.
LEARNING OUTCOME
At
the end of the course, students will be able to;
1. Recognise the psychological factors relevant to public relations
practice with particular reference to public attitude and awareness.
2. Demonstrate an understanding of the ムwhyメ of professional
communication, and the principles of effective persuasive communication
applied in the professional practice of public relations.
3. Demonstratre an understanding of the steps involved in developing a
public relations programme. 4. Outline the four-step problem solving
process as it applies to public relations.
5. Describe public relation practitioner characteristics and work
assignments.
6. Use the public relations models to depict the roles of formative
growth of public relations.
SYNOPSIS
This
unit is concerned with the psychosocial basis of public relations
particularly the factors that influence public awareness, attitudes and
opinion. The unit examines the processes of an operational model of
public relations practice and the new ムissues managementメ approach to
public relations practice. The life cycle issues, particularly the
management of environment and consumer interest, will be examined. The
unit also seeks to build and further develop the practical skills,
which are necessary for the public relations practitioner.
