OBJECTIVES
The objectives of the course are to enable students to 1. Understand the role of research in Public Relations. 2. Analyse the key fundamentals of undertaking research in Public Relations.

LEARNING OUTCOME
At the end of the course, student will be able to: 1. Identify the stages in public relations program and research techniques 2. Advantages and disadvantages of type and research methods 3. How public relations research can help achieve objectives and strategies for public relations practitioners

SYNOPSIS

This unit introduces students to the ways in which research is, or can be used by public relations practioners. It covers formal research, including qualitative and quantitative research methodology. Focus group structuring and questionnaire design, analysis and reporting of results and the interface with market research professionals. It also covers informal research including how to use library database and reference material: how to develop a network of contact and how to track down information using a variety of methods. These abilities to research for and research information are critical to planning, implementing, monitoring and evaluating public relations activity.
