OBJECTIVES
The objectives of the course are to enable students to: 1. Understand conventions and language used in writing for media. 2. Understand the forms and styles of broadcast, PR and feature writing. 3. Apply the above in writing for different types of media.

LEARNING OUTCOME
At the end of this course, students are able to: 1. Demonstrate understanding of the basic conventions and language in media writing. 2. Understand the stages involved in different production processes. 3. Use the techniques and ideas learnt for preparation of media production and script writing.

SYNOPSIS

This course introduces the student to the skills of writing for the mass media. It includes a study of the conventions of communication in the different media and the unit include elements of drama and scriptwriting, together with an introduction to print journalism.
