OBJECTIVES
The objective of this course is to enable students to : 1. Identify and effectively develop a deeper understanding on the concepts, issues, policies and latest technologies in the world of communications.

LEARNING OUTCOME
Learning Outcome At the end of the course students will be able to : 1. Understand and clarify the concepts and issues such as information technology, competition, monopoly, privatisation and justice. 2. Identify the relevant issues relating to communication policies and societiesメ perception on the delivered message. 3. Evaluate the relationships between society, technology and communication.

SYNOPSIS

This unit is an introductory examination of the social and cultural impacts of the new communication technologies from a variety of perspectives. Notions such as technological determinism, media plurality, information access and equity are related to an alleged new information revolution. The unit specifically addresses philosophical and conceptual issues. These include changes to the education and training debate within the context of new communication technologies.
