OBJECTIVES

Objectives are to:

  • Follow safe and correct working practices for shorthand note  taking and transcription.
  • Apply the theory of the chosen shorthand system and develop speed of note  taking.
  • Use any system of shorthand to write verbatim notes of a variety of business documents from dictation at 30 - 60 words per minute.

LEARNING OUTCOME

Upon completion of this unit, students will be able to:

  • Accurately transcribe verbatim shorthand notes, using a typewriter or a word processor.
  • Produce three business documents in a 1  hour transcription test from material dictated at 30 - 60 words per minute.

  • Light dot vowels, Strokes S and Z, Circle S, Progress Checks, Short forms,
  • Intersections, Vowels review, reading and writing Practice, Dictation.

Unit 4

  • Light dash vowels, SES circle, ST and STER loops, Vowel review, Short forms, Phrases, reading and writing, Dictation

Unit 5

  • Strokes WY, SH, ZH, Th, TH, SW, Past tense, Diphthongs and Trip hones, Short forms, Phrases, Intersections, Reading and Writing practice, Dictation.

Unit 6
