OBJECTIVES
This module will enable the student to organisational Foundations of Information systems; Technical Foundations of Information systems; Building Information systems: Contemporary Approaches; Management and Organisational Support Systems; Managing Contemporary Information Systems

LEARNING OUTCOME
Upon completion of this subject, learners should be able to:

  • identify the inputs and outputs in business information systems
  • identify and describe the data required in business information systems
  • describe the role of business information systems in an organisation
  • identify problems commonly found with business information systems
  • explain he ethical and social impact of the information systems
  • explain the processing of the computer systems
  • define concepts of an information infrastructure and apply strategies and tools for implementing, accessing and using information systems
  • differentiate and understand the role and function of various current and emerging technologies, including ヨ but not limited to ヨ computer hardware, networking, programming, database and web technologies
  • show how an information system is a strategic and integral component of a global organisation.

SYNOPSIS

This subject introduces student to management information systems ヨ what they are, how they affect the organisation and its employees, and how they can make business more competitive and efficient.
