OBJECTIVES
The objective of the subject is to teach students to communicate effectively using theories of communication and appropriate modes of communication, as situation demands.

LEARNING OUTCOME
On completion of this subject, the learners should be able to:

  • describe the theories of the communication process
  • apply the basic telephone skills and techniques
  • demonstrate ways to conduct a formal meeting
  • write business documents
  • deliver an oral presentation.

SYNOPSIS

Theories of communication; principles of effective communication; different modes of communication including letters, memos, newsletters, etc.; electronic communication including e-mail, telex and telegram; communicating for different purposes ヨ letters, advertisements, resumes and publicity materials; report writing; visual and pictorial communication; general principles of design in communication.
