OBJECTIVES
The
objective of the subject is to introduce students to some of the main
theories of management, how they evolved and the people behind the
theories; leadership of organizations; the decision -making skills; the
factors of control, managing change and identifying and managing stress
in the work environment.
LEARNING OUTCOME
On completion of this subject, the learners should be able to:
- elaborate the main theories of management
such as scientific management, principles of management, bureaucracy
and Theory X, Theory Y, Theory Z
- identify the different leadership styles, the importance of effective leaders in an organization
- enumerate the decision-making process
- elaborate the types and the importance of control to an organisation
- describe the forces to change, the impact of change to an organisation and the ways to cope with the resistance to change
- identify the sources of stress and ways to handle stress.
