OBJECTIVES
Malay Language A
This course is designed to enhance the language capability of the learner to facilitate oral and written communication in official, creative and non-creative contexts.

Malay Language B
This subject is prepared to enable the learners to master the basics of the Malay Language and possess the proficiency to communicate ideas and feelings verbally and in writing.

LEARNING OUTCOME
Malay Language A
By the end of the course, students will be able to:

  • understand written materials in various styles and forms, and express ideas using proper language in speech and writing
  • summaries details and expand ideas logically, concisely and confidently both spoken and written
  • improve understanding regarding sound, spelling, grammar, etc.
  • use language effectively and fluently from the viewpoint of speech, intonation, spelling, grammar, vocabulary
  • can communicate effectively using the dynamic elements of language
  • communicate in a socially refined manner besides assimilating Malaysian social values.
Malay Language b
On completion of this subject, the learner should be able to :
  • understand the history and development of the Malay Language, phonetics, spelling, metaphors, and proverbs of the Malay language
  • listen and understand Malay Language in various situations
  • use the Malay Language for daily communication
  • read and comprehend simple passages
  • express ideas and feelings in spoken and written form.

SYNOPSIS

Malay Language A
This is an introduction to the principles, functions and status of the Malay language; spelling and spoken aspects of the Malay language; Malay grammar; syntax in proper language usage and construction; Malay language dynamics and appreciation, such as language patterns, written communication.

Malay Language B
Introduction to the Malay Language, Malay Language Practice, spelling system, phonetics and grammar.
