Certified Accounting Technician
THE PROGRAMME
CAT is a vocational qualification designed by ACCA that will allow its
graduates to support the work of a professional accountants.
The final level examinations are equivalent in standard to the
first year of university degree. CAT graduands will be exempted from
the ACCA Part 1 examination and can enrol directly into the ACCA Part 2
programme.
There are nine papers, split into 3 levels, all designed to
test the knowledge, skill and understanding required to work in
accounting support roles.
Upon successfully completing the examinations, candidates will
have to gain a minimum of one year's relevant training to achieve the
Technician qualification.

Requirement
3 credits in SPM / O-Levels / UEC or other equivalent qualifications, including Mathematics.

Careers
Students with the CAT qualification will have no difficulty in
finding a junior position in a professional accounting firm or in commerce. Because of the vocational nature of the course, students will be able to commence work almost immediately. Their familiarity with accounting procedures will give them an edge over other recruits.
CAT is also an excellent choice of course for the young student who has aspirations of being a professional accountant. The qualification will give students exemption to the ACCA FUNDAMENTALS Knowledge Level.
